Thank God It’s Friday (TIGF), Hyderabad - Dine and splurge in the city of Nizams

Thank God It’s Friday or rather TIGF-Hyderabad is one of the best eateries in the country. If you love enjoying sumptuous food, great music and ambience in the company of fun people, TIGF-Hyderabad is one eatery you should try.

Hyderabad is a modern and bustling city. The city is already so modernized that it is almost impossible for the places in India that are still live in the old days to catch up with Hyderabad. There is a great dining culture in the city, and it is something that every backpacker visiting the city should give a try. In fact, the rapidly growing popularity of Hyderabad’s eating culture is today bringing-in a large count of foodies and backpackers in the city. You can check for the Bangalore to Hyderabad flight tickets, or trains from Delhi, Mumbai, online and access the city without any hassle.

In a city where there exists an almost infinite pool of cafes, restaurants, pubs, and food joints, TIGF- Hyderabad has its own lure. Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF) is located on the first floor of RK Cineplex, in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The entrance has a formal reservation desk and a staff member waiting to usher you to your seat. Though a reservation is not mandatory, it is recommended since the place is very popular.

The music here ranges from old country, to the classics and lots of very entertaining 80s Pop and classic rock tracks. So there’s a reason to rejoice for all Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson and Elvis fans.

What you get – TGIF is an extremely popular chain of American restaurants around the world, known for its typical southern American and part Tex-Mex cuisine. It is also reputed to have the best selection of drinks and the Hyderabad outlet does not disappoint on that front. The ambience of the pub section is akin to a sports bar with the most popular drink being the Long Island Iced Tea. The margaritas and daiquiris are quite appealing too.

The signature dishes on the menu are Buffalo wings, Nachos and Cheese and the Cheese Fries. Though the restaurant is popular for its non-vegetarian dishes, it does have an equally delicious vegetarian fare too. Must try among these are the Vegetarian Quesadillas (toasted tortillas).
The piece de resistance is the dessert menu. The chocolate fudge sundae and the cheesecake are excellent and so is the Oreo Cookie ice cream. The Chips Ahoy ice cream does not lag behind either.

The verdict – The delicious food here is loaded with cheese and is not for the calorie watchers though there are a few low calorie dishes as well. Service is courteous and helpful though not all are familiar with the menu. So read the description carefully before placing an order. Portions are large. The prices are on the higher side but the portions justify the cost. All in all, a typical TGIF dining experience which does not disappoint. Valet parking is available. Plus, the good connectivity of the eatery with the places to visit in Hyderabad for fun is an added advantage.

What you pay for a meal for two – Rs. 1,000-1,200 (without wine)
